Campaspe Shire Council will officially open two new off-leash dog parks in Kyabram and Tongala — and everyone is invited to the launch events.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Daniel Mackrell was pleased to see a key community priority come to life through the Kyabram and Tongala place-based plans.
“These are the first off-leash dog parks in Kyabram and Tongala, and they’ve come directly from what locals said mattered most,’’ he said.
According to Cr Mackrell, Kyabram residents listed it as their number one short-term priority and Tongala residents had it in their top six.
“These dog parks are something the community asked for, and we’re proud to deliver them with support from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program,’’ he said.
“It’s a great example of how targeted funding can help bring local priorities to life.’’
To celebrate the event, representatives from Campaspe’s animal management teams will be on site at both events, and the first 30 dogs brought along by attendees will receive a complimentary pack of Barkin’ Good Dog Biscuits.
The site was cleared at Brose Reserve for a new dog park at Tongala.

Tongala’s dog park at Brose Reserve, Finlay Rd, Tongala, will be opened on Monday, September 22, from 10.30am to 11.30am.
Kyabram’s dog park at Edis Park, Oswald St, Kyabram, will be opened on Wednesday, September 24, from 10.30am to 11.30am.
Cr Mackrell invited two- and four-legged residents to celebrate the launch of the new spaces, which support active lifestyles and social connection — priorities evident in the place-based plans.
“I encourage everyone to come along to the opening, bring your dog, and enjoy what we’ve built together,’’ he said.
‘’These parks belong to the community, and we hope they’ll be well loved for years to come.’’
