Local Ford dealership Darryl Twitt Ford is taking part in the ‘World’s Largest Dealer Food Drive’ during Ford’s ‘Global Caring Month’, with food donations received to be forwarded to Shepparton Foodshare.
The Ford Motor Company event is being held worldwide, but its individual dealerships can opt to support their local communities throughout the campaign.
Shepparton Foodshare executive officer Dee Healey said Shepparton Foodshare relied on donations and food rescues to supply nutritious and culturally appropriate food to people in need.
“We are very grateful to Darryl Twitt Ford for helping us to achieve this,” Ms Healey said.
“Community food drives such as this are so valuable, as they help us address any food shortages.”
Shepparton Foodshare is in need of canned soup, pasta, pasta sauce, cereal, jams, biscuits and instant noodles.
Darryl Twitt Ford’s Jason Sherlock said the dealership was committed to the Goulburn Valley community through partnerships with local organisations.
“This initiative from Ford Australia has given us the opportunity to reconnect with Shepparton Foodshare to support local people in Shepparton and ensure that they don’t go hungry,” he said.
“We have enlisted help from some of our third-party suppliers, such as Shepparton ARB, Shepparton TJM, LDK Trailers, and additionally our customers and staff members.”
Shelf-stable food items can be dropped off to Darryl Twitt Ford at 325-329 Midland Hwy, Shepparton, between September 15 and 25.
Shepparton Foodshare will then distribute the food for free to registered emergency relief agencies, schools, meal programs, faith organisations and neighbourhood houses to help individuals, families, children, people experiencing homelessness and people from our multicultural community.
