The proposal aims to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians while enhancing vehicle access and parking along the busy street.
Key features of the proposed design include:
- Improved pedestrian access along and across Vermont St
- A new pedestrian link along the southern edge of the street
- Upgraded disabled parking
- Enhanced vehicle access to local properties
Council is seeking funding support for the project through the NSW Government’s active transport programs and is eager to ensure the final design reflects community needs.
To encourage feedback, council will host two pop-up information sessions.
Its staff will be available to discuss the proposal, answer questions and record community input.
The information sessions will take place outside the Barooga Post Office, on Tuesday, October 21 from 3pm to 5pm and on Thursday, October 23 from 11am to 2pm.
Berrigan Shire Mayor Julia Cornwell McKean said community input was a vital part of the planning process.
“We want to ensure the design works for everyone — residents, pedestrians and local businesses alike,” she said.
“Your feedback will help us deliver a safer, more accessible Vermont St for the whole community.”
Residents who are unable to attend the pop-up sessions can also provide feedback via berriganshire.nsw.gov.au/Council/Have-Your-Say/
