This free event, led by Echuca Regional Health, in partnership with Intereach, Echuca Neighbourhood House, Njernda, Campaspe Shire Council, Murray River Council and many other local Aged Care and community service providers, will take place on Thursday, October 23 at Radcliffe’s Function Centre, Echuca.
The free community festival will provide a welcoming space for older adults to connect, celebrate and access valuable information and services that support healthy ageing and living well.
Activities will include live presentations, interactive workshops, gentle physical movement, such as Tai Chi and chair yoga, and a wide range of information stalls hosted by local aged care services, My Aged Care representatives, carer support organisations, advocacy and community groups.
A key goal of the festival is to reduce social isolation and promote wellness among older people in the region.
The event will offer opportunities for participants to learn about support services available, nutrition, exercise, mental wellbeing, falls prevention and how to stay connected with their community.
Importantly, the festival aligns with the principles of the new Aged Care Act, which places greater emphasis on the rights of older people, including choice, control, dignity and respect.
The event will help raise awareness of the rights and empower attendees to make informed decisions about their care and wellbeing.
Through engagement with services and supports, seniors will be encouraged to actively participate in shaping their own ageing experience.
Aligned with the Victorian Seniors Festival’s focus on inclusion, celebration and empowerment of older Victorians, the event reflects our commitment to ensuring that seniors feel valued, informed and supported.
By encouraging participation, engagement, and fun, the festival will shine a light on the importance of staying active, socially connected and informed throughout the ageing journey.
The festival will also strengthen collaboration between regional service providers, build community resilience and raise awareness of the many local services that can support seniors to live well and independently at home.
Echuca Moama Healthy Ageing Festival will be held on Thursday, October 23 from 10am to 3.30pm at Radcliffe’s Function Centre, 6-10 Radcliffe St, Echuca.
