The initiative, which emerged as a COVID-19 recovery program in 2021, encourages residents to support bricks-and-mortar retailers rather than online shopping platforms.
“It started as a COVID recovery event, knowing that a lot of people would be looking to shop online in 2021, and try and encourage people to get out and about to our local stores and spend their money in Echuca,” Rotary Club of Echuca Moama committee member Rob Foran said.
“The Shop Local Night is about more than just shopping.
“It’s about strengthening our local economy, fostering a sense of community and showcasing the incredible retailers and services that exist right here in Echuca.”
The festivities begin at Bar Lee within Echuca Distillery at 555 High St from 5pm, followed by shopping from 6pm across more than 15 participating retailers.
The evening’s offerings span a comprehensive range of products, from giftware and cosmetics to camping equipment, fishing gear, clothing, confectionery, local produce and homewares.
The Shop Local Night not only focuses on shopping but also on strengthening the local economy, building community connections and highlighting the diverse range of retailers and services in Echuca.

“From there, people go out from 6pm to, at this stage, 15-plus participating stores and shop until they drop at 9pm,” Mr Foran said.
“Then we bring them back and we do the lucky door prizes and raffle prizes.”
Tickets are $5 each, including entry into a raffle for gift cards and prizes from participating businesses.
The Rotary Club of Echuca Moama is currently accepting applications from local community organisations interested in potential sponsorship from the event’s proceeds.
