The contest brings together young performers in a bid to battle it out for the top prize of $1000 and a few hours in a recording studio.
Organiser Paul Colyvan said the event was born out of wanting to give young people a place to perform.
“There's no platform for young performers to perform, so we thought we'd start this talent quest for 12-year-olds to 18-year-olds,” he said.
“(The) first year was good, second year was a lot stronger, and this year looks like it's going to be stronger again.
“It's just good for the kids to have somewhere to play... and in front of a large crowd with professional sound and all the rest. It's just a really good experience for kids to have.”
The contestants, a mix of new and experienced performers, will have the chance to play a few of their best songs for the crowd.
The event organisers will also provide the backline on the day, giving performers a chance to use professional equipment.
Each year, the number of contestants continues to grow, with more than 20 young musicians set to take the stage this weekend.
While many come from around the region, the competition has seen youth travel from Melbourne, the Mallee region and the Gippsland region to take part.
Mr Colyvan said while there is always new faces each year, they have also seen young musicians grow their talents through the showcase.
“We've slowly watched some young people actually develop over the three years,” he said.
“We've got a couple of girls that have been in it every year thus far, and you just see how they've developed... coming from being a little kid and then all of a sudden, ‘oh she could win it this year’ — it's good.”
The event will be held at the Gargarro Botanic Gardens from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday, November 15.
Community members and visitors are invited to support the contestants and enjoy an afternoon of music together.
