Another bumper crowd of 23 riders took advantage of perfect conditions for racing.
A-grade
Two pairs of brothers tonight with Lenny and George Griffiths joined by Kevin and Neville Laffy, with Nathan Oman and Nick Woods rounding out the field.
After a steady start, it was Nathan Oman who made an early move as he broke clear of the bunch, leaving George and Lenny in a heated discussion about whose job it was to chase.
The bunch reformed, and order was restored.
Approaching the bell lap, it was Neville who made the move as he drew away, but could he hold the speed?
Approaching the final straight, it looked like a blanket finish as Nathan and the Griffiths brothers closed in on Neville.
As they hit the line, it was Lenny across first, closely followed by George and Nathan Oman in 3rd.
B-grade
A strong group of five, Cam Smith, John Brian, Riley Wilkinson and Nick McNair were joined by Bryce Denham, living his best life after two overseas trips in six weeks.
Evenly matched, the pace was fast through the middle of the race, but even Riley in shorts and tee shirt was doing his best to hang on.
There was no clear favourite for the win.
Into the last lap, it was anyone's race.
Cam moved to the front and looked intent on staying there, and down the back straight it was Bryce closing the gap.
In the throw to the line, it was Cam narrowly from Bryce, with Riley in 3rd.
C-grade
On debut, youngster Billy Sutton headed off with experienced riders Dave Faulkner, Will Kettle, Matt Dobeli, Mel Smolenaars, Neil Thomson and Myles Higgins.
After an introductory lap or two to acquaint Billy with crit racing, it was on.
A strong pace ensued, with each rider trying to outdo the last.
With 10 minutes to go, Will Kettle went off the boil on the front, and Matt took the chance to go.
In the blink of an eye, the two of them were off the front.
Billy latched on, and it was three, with Mel and Neil trying to chase after Dave and Myles faltered.
With a clear lead into the final three laps it was a race of three.
On the final lap it was a customary Will Kettle sprint that took him to victory with debutant Billy in second and Matt third.
D-grade
Another pair of brothers in D-grade, with Paul and Dave Oman joining Ray Hamilton, Glen Kettle and Neil Ennis in what appeared to be another evenly matched bunch.
Neil, who had won the previous two races, was looking good as he rode strongly with the Oman brothers always close behind.
Taking turns at the front, the pace was on.
As the race continued, it looked to be a race in 3.
As the bell sounded for the final lap, it was Dave Oman who surged clear, but had he gone too soon?
Down the back straight, he was holding his lead, but as he rounded the final corner, Paul and Neil had closed the gap.
As they hit the line, it was Dave in a comfortable win from Neil in second and Paul Oman in 3rd.
Thanks to race director H and to those who helped set up and pack up, and a huge thanks to our friends at The Wren Courtyard for tonight's prizes.
