As host, Jerilderie Public School welcomed school leaders from across one of the most diverse and expansive educational networks in the Riverina.
The network includes 20 schools spanning primary, high-school and central settings, including Bunnaloo, Mathoura and Moama public schools.
Jerilderie teaching principal Laura Keech said hosting the network was “an honour and a privilege for our small but mighty school”.
She said it highlighted the significance of bringing the region’s educational leaders to Jerilderie.
The Deniliquin Principals Network plays a vital role in supporting school leadership across the Riverina region.
The network fosters collaboration, professional learning and shared problem-solving.
Regular meetings provide opportunities to showcase local schools, exchange best practices and strengthen ties between education leaders and their communities.
It also serves as a key link to the NSW Department of Education, ensuring consistent policy implementation and accountability.
By reducing isolation and promoting innovation, the Deniliquin Principals Network helps rural schools deliver high-quality education and maintain strong connections with families and local stakeholders.
Over two days in Jerilderie, delegates were treated to a powerful showcase of student achievement, school culture and community pride.
Jerilderie students opened the meeting with a warm welcome and delivered a heartfelt Acknowledgement of Country.
The K-2 students delighted the audience with a recital of their homework poem, while the whole school brought the house down with a K-6 dance performance travelling through the decades.
They earned a standing ovation from every principal and executive member in attendance.
Students also interviewed the visiting leaders about their own schools and how they connect to Jerilderie PS, a moment described by Mrs Keech as “a genuine highlight that showed just how confident, curious and proud our students are”.
Principals also toured the school, exploring the music room, IT room, library, art room, flexible learning spaces, Aurora room, classrooms, expansive oval, COLA and playground.
“People are often surprised when they see the quality of our facilities and programs,” Mrs Keech said.
“It reinforces that public education, no matter the size or postcode, provides outstanding opportunities for every child.”
