Valuer John Simpson will make the trip from Melbourne on business owner Roy Raux’s dime to mark a milestone for the store.
“It’s our birthday — 12 months in Echuca. Because of that, we are trying to give back something to the community,” Mr Raux said.
“The valuations are all free. We are not charging a cent.”
Antique owners from across the region are invited to bring their items to the store on Saturday to find out what they’re worth.
Mr Simpson is able to value a wide range of possessions, including jewellery and quality photographs of larger items that can’t be taken in-person.
After valuations are conducted, owners can choose to take their items home, or inquire whether Mr Raux would be interested in purchasing them.
The roadshow is a tradition of Mr Raux’s various regional antiques businesses, and is a one in five-year event.
Previously the owner of Albury Antiques in Shepparton — a 2500m² store with items regularly imported from Europe — Mr Raux’s new digs are more modest, but still full of vintage treasures.
“Even though this is a small shop, there’s thousands of items. It’s very well arranged, and everyone can come and have a look,” he said.
“When you walk into the shop, it brings back memories as well. It’s a beautiful, well set-up shop.”
In conjunction with the free valuations, the store will hold an up to 50 per cent off store wide sale from Friday, December 5 to Sunday, December 7.
To value your items, visit 245 Pakenham St, Echuca (next to Under the Gable) on Saturday, December 6.
