2025 has been a year of renewal and momentum for Campaspe Shire.
We’ve proudly entered the first year of our new Council Plan, shaped by the voices of our community through the Citizens’ Panel earlier this year.
Together, we’ve set a clear vision and strategic pillars that guide our work, and both councillors and council officers are working hard to deliver on the priorities you helped define.
I invite you to view our Council and Wellbeing Plan 2025-2029 on our website, campapse.vic.gov.au
As we look ahead to 2026, and with the upcoming state government elections, council is advocating strongly for funding to support key community infrastructure such as the Rochester Aquatics Facility.
Backed by our pledge of $5 million, our advocacy work is focussed on securing the remaining funding to bring the community vision for the Rochester Aquatic Facility to fruition.
Alongside this, our Christmas wish list includes investment in roads, community spaces, improved public transport and services that make Campaspe a great place to live, work, invest and visit.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to advocate for our rural communities by continuing to protest the Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund – calling on the Victorian Government to suspend the levy while a fairer, statewide funding model is reconsidered.
Stay tuned on how you can assist us in having our rural voices heard.
Christmas is a magical time across our shire, and this holiday season we are proud to be part of supporting the amazing Wonderland on the Murray sand sculpture trail.
The trail brings Alice in Wonderland alive through large-scale handcrafted sand installations stretching from the historic Port of Echuca through the Aquatic Reserve, crossing the Murray to Moama. It’s a must see over the holiday period.
Campaspe Shire is once again bringing festive installations into our towns, and our 2025 Christmas in Campaspe flyer is the perfect communities guide to all the joyful celebrations happening this season.
Discover where to find dazzling Illumination Stations, charming town decorations, bustling Christmas markets, heart-warming carols and special events at Campaspe Libraries.
While we savour spending time with loved ones, this season is also a time to look out for one another.
Check in on your neighbours, lend a hand where you can, and help make this a safe and joyful time for all. Whether you're celebrating at home or travelling, please stay safe and take care.
On behalf of Campaspe Shire Council, I extend my heartfelt thanks to our community for your support, resilience and engagement over the past 12 months.
We wish you a peaceful, safe and happy Christmas, and look forward to continuing our work together in the new year.
Warm regards, Cr Daniel Mackrell
Campaspe Shire Mayor
