The Golfers were in no mood to give an inch in the first versus last clash against East Shepparton, with Peter Lesueur underscoring his billing as one of the top Edna Harling Shield skips in a 16-shot first rink triumph.
The special K’s, Kris Wright and Kristoffer Ferguson, both fired off winning rinks to propel Shepparton Golf to a 16-72 to 0-40 victory, finishing the year on top of the ladder.
The chasing pack, however, isn’t far behind.
Euroa made the journey out to Seymour for a highly anticipated top four clash, but it was the hosts who were less than welcoming in a 20-shot win.
Ken Sutcliffe’s four claimed a rink for Euroa but had no luck in the other two, with Alison Hall (33-14) and Russell Locke (21-12) delivering a 14-67 to 2-47 win for Seymour to keep it five points ahead of fifth-placed Tallygaroopna.
However, the Roadrunners are ever-present in the finals race, especially after an eight-shot win over a gallant Seymour VRI.
Joey Lia (29-16) and David Daws (27-15) captured the winnings rinks for Tallygaroopna, but a big 17-shot win for VRI’s Joseph Purcell threatened to take the game away.
Meanwhile, Tatura Hill Top claimed an impressive 71-46 win over Shepparton Park to round out the year.
