The Echuca Rotary Club initiative gives community members the opportunity to recognise individuals and groups making a difference.
The awards celebrate the achievements and contributions of individuals and community organisations in Echuca.
“These prestigious awards acknowledge anyone whose dedication and contributions might otherwise go unnoticed,” Australia Day chairperson Teresa Carlson said.
Award categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year, Junior Sportsperson of the Year and Community Group of the Year.
The family-friendly celebration will begin at 7am with a free breakfast, followed by a Welcome to Country, award presentations, live entertainment, face painting and a formation flyover by the Echuca Moama Aero Club.
Mrs Carlson encourages community members to submit nominations and attend the celebration, describing it as a “beautiful family day” while reflecting on past years’ successes.
“Last year, we had over 300 people in attendance,” she said.
“It just shows you, reflect, respect and celebrate, which we did.
“I think we dished out about 350 breakfasts.”
Nomination forms, including eligibility criteria for each award, are available on the Campaspe Shire Council website at tinyurl.com/yp675cvu
Winners will be announced and presented with their award and a gift at the celebration on Australia Day, taking place at Hopwood Gardens, Echuca.
