The weekend is composed of three events, headlined by the sprint triathlon on Saturday afternoon.
The short form triathlon is made up of a 700m swim, 20km bike and 5km run around Echuca Moama’s historic port precinct.
Aquabike, which removes the run leg, and relay options are also available.
Earlier in the day, the juniors will be in the spotlight for a duathlon and triathlon held around Moama beach.
Kids aged 7-10 complete a 50m swim, 3km bike and 600m run, while those 11-14 will take on an 80m swim, 6km bike and 1.2km run.
The duathlon option excludes the swim leg.
The weekend’s festivities conclude with the Wharf to Winery swim on Sunday morning, entrants taking on a 1.5km or 3km swim down the Murray River, finishing at Morrisons Winery
Race director Sarah Mulkearns said entries had been strong for the events with 360 signed up for the sprint triathlon.
“This year’s our 27th year straight, which is pretty cool, and all things are in full swing,” she said.
“We’re looking at only 20 spots left available for our sprint triathlon, so we’re nearly sold out in that event again, and we’re looking at record numbers again for our Wharf to Winery swim as well.
“Our junior event is always very popular, but that’s generally last-minute entries, so we get lots of junior entries (this) week, which will bring those numbers up too.”
The only change to this year’s weekend from previous years is a scheduling one, with the Wharf to Winery to begin 30 minutes earlier at 9am.
The event commonly attracts a mix of entrants from locally and abroad, with competitive and casual athletes taking part.
“We have lots of people who come and return,” Mulkearns said.
“Obviously, there’s lots of locals who join, but then lots of participants come from Melbourne and other regional towns every year for our event, which it’s great to see the same faces come back and then new faces or new family and friends who come along with them.
“It's just great to see so much diversity.
“It doesn’t matter what level or ability you’re at, it’s a distance you can get out and enjoy and then having the junior event as well, it’s a great event weekend for the whole family.”
The event is supported by a team of volunteers and Mulkearns encouraged anyone who wants to help out to reach out and volunteer.
Limited entries for the Echuca-Moama Triathlon Club multisport weekend are still available at https://tinyurl.com/2sxej2am before entries close at midnight on Thursday, January 15.
