In tandem with its Rochester counterpart, Echuca Neighbourhood House is asking for practical donations to support the Harcourt township in its time of need.
Items called for include water ― with 5L to 10L containers or bottled drinking water preferred ― animal food, and dry or non-perishable goods.
Those able can contribute spare time by volunteering with various organisations around Castlemaine, which neighbourhood house volunteers can recommend.
The Echuca Neighbourhood House is not open until Monday, January 19, but said staff would be on-site beforehand, and to leave donations at the front door of its High St location.
The Border Inn Hotel will host a fundraiser throughout the remainder of the month, giving $5 from every parmigiana sold towards bushfire relief.
“The more parmis we sell, the more money we can donate ― so bring your mates, bring your appetite and help support those who need it most,” it said in a Facebook post.
Echuca Moama Plant Farm is running the ‘Buy a Tree for a CFA Legend’ campaign, which sees customers purchase a $25 voucher that will go towards a volunteer firefighter.
From the week of Monday, January 19, CFA volunteers can visit the nursery to collect their own tree, with the business aiming for 1000 donations.
Vouchers for the trees can be purchased in-store, by phoning 1300 599 988, or by visiting https://echucamoamaplantfarm.com.au/.../cfa-tree-donation/
The Victorian Government has also announced its 2026 Bushfire Appeal, which supports people, organisations and communities affected by fires.
All of the money given to the appeal goes towards relief efforts, and donations can be made at www.vic.gov.au/2026-Victorian-Bushfire-Appeal
