NSW Police commenced an investigation following the discovery of a man’s body in the Murray River on New Year’s Eve.

About 9.30am on Wednesday, December 31, emergency services were called to Perricoota Rd, Moama, after reports of a concern for welfare.
On arrival, officers attached to Murray River Police District found the body of a man, believed to be in his 70s, in the river.
A crime scene was established, and police said a postmortem examination would be conducted at the time to determine the cause of death.
NSW Police have since confirmed the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
