What the community can expect?
- Works 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday and extended works 6am to 6pm Saturdays.
- Round-the-clock works between 8pm on Friday, February 27 and 6pm on Tuesday, March 3.
- The closure of some station car parks, with bus services moved to Mackellar St.
- Traffic management, single lane shuttle flow, temporary road closures and reduced road speeds.
- Residents impacted by utility outages will be notified by their service provider.
- Nearby residents may experience some noise and vibration.
Machinery used
Trucks, excavators, front-end loader, grader, cranes, tippers, earthmoving equipment, rollers, trucks, elevated work platforms, wood chipper and support vehicles.
Workers will also be using hand tools and traffic management equipment.
How Inland Rail is managing impacts
- Pedestrian and vehicle access to Benalla Station Precinct will be maintained from Mackellar St.
- Temporary bus pick-up and drop-off areas will be set up on Mackellar St.
- Wayfinding signage will be visible along detours
- Environmental controls will be in place.
Cancellation or extension of works
Works can sometimes take longer than anticipated or be cancelled at short notice and rescheduled.
Should this occur, impacted residents will be notified.

Rail possession — Line closures
Works will occur during a rail possession between 8am Saturday, February 28 and 11pm on Sunday, March 1, when the rail line between Sydney and Melbourne will be closed with no trains running.
