Small fires keep fireys busy

The first in Irvine Parade turned out to be a small fire in a roof space, which was quickly made safe.

It is believed to have started in an air conditioning unit.

The second on Monday night in Putters Circuit off Hogan’s Rd was started by an electrical appliance and also quickly made safe by fireys.

Duty officer for CFA District 22, Peter Gazzola said it was timely to remind residents to make sure that all their electricals were up to date now that there are new standards on safety switchboards.

“Make sure safety switches are compliant and check appliances that might need serviced,” Mr Gazzola said.

“If something smells like smoke, don’t hesitate to call Triple Zero.

“Fireys can check the roof space and use thermal imaging cameras to check for hotspots.”
