Gaza under siege feature film wins Berlinale award

Alkhatib accused the German government of being a partner in what he termed "the genocide in the Gaza Strip".

Israel denies committing genocide in the Gaza Strip - which is also the position of the German government - and speaks of self-defence following the terrorist attack on October 7, 2023.

Alkhatib, who brought a Palestinian flag onto the stage, said that one day there would be a wonderful film festival in Gaza.

"We will remember everyone who stood by our side, and we will remember everyone who was against us," he said.

"A free Palestine from now until the end of the world."
