Echuca’s defeat to Moama Steamers in last week’s qualifying semi-final set it up for a meeting with the Bombers in the preliminary final at Rochester Bowls Club.
Anticipation aplenty around the approaching bowl.
Kyabram entered the match-up coming off a comfortable elimination semi-final win over Stanhope, and the Bombers ran the defending champions close.
Echuca triumphed 15-63 to 1-50 in a well-fought encounter, winning two rinks, with the third being drawn.

Ian Page’s rink performed best for Echuca, with his team of Robyn Tooley, Pat Schram and Kristy Gillingham racing away from Kyabram skip Mary-Anne Spizer 27-17.
Meanwhile, Joe Greco’s rink was able to deny Echuca winning all three in a dominant display, his team drawing 19-19 with Kerryn Evans.
In the wash-up, James Ferrier’s rink was the most important for Echuca, narrowly triumphing 17-14 over Mary Greco.

Victory for Echuca means it now plays the Steamers. The pair will meet in the decider for the second time in three seasons, having done so in 2024.
On that occasion Echuca won, beating a Moama side that was the defending champion at the time, and it will now be looking to claim its third straight midweek title.

Moama was dominant in the recent qualifying semi-final, winning all three rinks, although the teams did split their regular season meetings.
The two sides will face off in the grand final on Tuesday, March 10, at Rich River Bowls Club, with play scheduled to begin at 9.30am.

Lower divisions
In division two, Moama won two of three rinks against Echuca in a rematch of last season’s grand final, triumphing 14-60 to 2-40 in the prelim.
The Steamers now face Kyabram in the decider, aiming to rectify two consecutive grand final defeats and reclaim their first division two title since 2023.

Moama had a very successful week in the lower divisions, as the Steamers also won the division three preliminary final against Tongala, 14-47 to 0-25.
They will face Deniliquin in the grand final, with Moama winning the only previous meeting between the pair this season.

Incredibly, the Steamers will be represented across all four midweek grand finals next week, as Moama Green booked its spot in the division four decider with a 13-44 to 1-35 win over Stanhope.
