The Army Open Day will run from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, March 14, offering visitors a comprehensive look at military operations and history.
Visitors will have the chance to view the army’s latest equipment and meet soldiers through various demonstrations.
These will include M777 Howitzer drills, assault bridge deployment, cargo vehicle loading systems and uncrewed aerial systems displays.
The newly re-opened Army Museum Puckapunyal will be accessible to guests, featuring the Payne of Valour art exhibit.
This exhibit honours Victoria Cross recipient Keith Payne and his wife Florence, showcasing their enduring contribution to veterans, families and communities.
Special ceremonies will mark the day’s significance, including the annual National Servicemen’s Association of Australia march.
The Victorian Branch of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia will also unveil a plaque honouring national servicemen who trained at 2nd Recruit Training Battalion between 1965 and 1972.
Practical arrangements include on-site parking and a free sausage sizzle with water provided by the Puckapunyal Scouts.
The event is free and unticketed, however organisers warn it may be subject to change or cancellation at short notice due to adverse weather conditions.
