Held at the Rochester Hotel on Saturday, February 21, the fundraiser invited community members to enjoy a barbecue and live entertainment for $10 per person.
The event was well attended, with every table in the beer garden filled with families and friends enjoying the afternoon.
Guests had the chance to win prizes by purchasing raffle tickets or guessing the number of lollies in a jar.
The club also raised funds by selling symbolic bricks, which will be proudly displayed on a wall in the new op shop as a token of appreciation for supporters’ contributions.
All proceeds from the event will go towards rebuilding the club’s former op shop on Moore St.
The fundraiser is one of several efforts organised by the club to help reach its fundraising goal.
Donations from local organisations and businesses have also contributed, with the most recent coming from Agnico Eagle.
Following Agnico Eagle’s generous $100,000 donation, the club reached the halfway mark of its $800,000 goal.
Community members can also support the project in a number of ways, including purchasing a symbolic brick or dropping off cash donations at the temporary op shop in the Senire Citizens clubrooms.
