Community members from Moama, Deniliquin and surrounding NSW regions recently gathered for a meet and greet with independent candidate Michelle Milthorpe.

Residents had the opportunity to meet Mrs Milthorpe, share their stories about the region and discuss their concerns and needs for the area ahead of the Farrer by-election set to be held on Saturday, May 9.
Beyond connecting with community members, Mrs Milthorpe spoke about her background as a mother, an educator, and her reasoning for wanting to represent the regional voices of the Farrer electorate.
“I understand what it’s like to grow up in the country. I understand what it’s like to grow old in the country, because of watching my parents and my grandparents,” she said.

Mrs Milthorpe explained her priorities to curious residents, including fighting for equal access to essential services, healthcare, aged care, mental health support and housing.
Community members spoke about their reasons for supporting her campaign and others raised questions about Mrs Milthorpe’s position on water management and cross-border challenges.
A resident praised Mrs Milthorpe’s combination of strength, approachability and ability to listen to community needs while maintaining independence from party politics.
