Equestrian riders came from across the region to compete in a navigation ride in Koonoomoo, tackling 44 questions along scenic back roads, with winners taking home prizes from local sponsors.

The Murray District Equestrain Club held a navigation ride on Saturday, March 28 with 14 riders and seven pairs entering the competition.
MDEC president Sue Lucas said the weather on Saturday was perfect for the ride.
“We had riders come from as far as Cobram, Bendigo, Shepparton and Tallarook, which was great,” she said.
MDEC secretary Julie Coller participated in the ride and said it took her three hours and 43 minutes to finish the course.
“It was really good,” she said.
“It was along the quiet back roads of Koonoomoo and along the river, the tracks were nice and dry ...”.

Riders were given an optimum time the course should take them and were also scored on how many answers they got correct.
“There were 44 questions and you had to look for clues as you rode along,” Mrs Coller said.
“Some clues were quite obvious, others you really had to look for and try and think about.”
The first place winners were Tallarook Family Riding Club member Kerry Wright and her partner Yarrawonga Mulwala Adult Riding Club member Kirsten Wheatley.
Their prize was a bag of MultiCube each for their horses, a $50 cash prize for Advanced Dairy Systems Cobram and a bag of goodies from Horse Land and Saddle World in Shepparton.

The second place winners were Tallarook Family Riding Club members Zoe Mumford and Joel Stevenson.
Wangaratta Equine Emporium donated two $50 gift vouchers as the second place prize.
Mrs Lucas thanked their sponsors MultiCube, Advanced Dairy Systems Cobram, Koonoomoo General Store, March’s IGA in Tocumwal, Mattina Fresh, Wangaratta Equine Emporium, Horse Land Shepparton, Saddle World Shepparton and Pet Stock for their support.
Mrs Lucas and Mrs Coller said they felt “very blessed” and “very humbled” by the support they had received from local businesses.

“We could not have done this without our sponsors,” Mrs Lucas said.
She also thanked all of their club members for their hard work on the day.
“Everybody either made food to donate or just turned up on the day to help,” she said.
