The Pies have attracted former Sandringham Zebras midfielder Nick Pavlou to Moama Reserve from Victorian Amateur Football Association premier club Old Brighton.
Pavlou, a former Sandringham Dragons captain in the NAB League, averaged 30 disposals a game in a best-and-fairest-winning 2019 campaign with Old Brighton.
Included in that prolific season was one match with an eye-watering stat line of 54 disposals and two goals against VAFA powerhouse St Kevin’s.
Pavlou also looks set to add premiership flair to Moama after winning the Northern Territory Football League division one flag with Banks Bulldogs last Saturday.
He partnered Tongala ruck Jack Monigatti through the midfield in that grand final and looks set to face off against his NTFL teammate when Moama and the Blues clash in round six.
Pavlou’s connection lies with another former Banks teammate in Moama assistant coach Jye Warren, who said he was thrilled to see Pavlou join the Pies.
It takes Moama’s off-season haul up to 10 recruits, with the Pies experiencing minimal departures.
Shaping up as one of the big movers of the MFL, Moama has also been hard at work on the field, notching up two practice matches against Mount Pleasant and Cohuna Kangaroos in anticipation of the season start on Saturday, April 2.
Moama faces Rumbalara in round one at Moama Recreation Reserve.
