The annual competition run by School Sports Australia traditionally pits state football teams against each other, offering a chance for young footballers to compete in an elite environment.
The Goulburn Murray quartet were selected alongside other elite school talent from across the state.
Evans (GV Grammar) and Watson (St Joseph's College) were selected for under 15 honours, while Gregor (St Joseph's College) was selected in the under 15 girls’ side.
McCarty (Echuca Primary School), the youngest representative of the four, will play for the under 12 Vics.
It's a source of great pride for the young half-back and his high school counterparts to pull on the Victorian jumper.
“It's pretty exciting,” McCarty said.
“I was the only one from my school as well, so that was cool.”
Originally scheduled to begin in the Northern Territory, COVID-19 restrictions mean the tournament will likely be re-located and scheduled for another date.
It matters little to the school football representatives, who are just excited to turn out for their state regardless of its outlook.
“It's disappointing not to be going to Darwin, but we're just happy to be playing and running out there,” Evans said.
The state sides draw on talented school footballers and School Sport Victoria has indicated the 2021 program will proceed in some capacity, including the potential for the four selected teams to compete against one another.
