Yarrawonga Mulwala RSL Sub-Branch leaders are expecting the legacy left by those who fought and supported our troops to be duly recognized by locals and visitors this year as commemorations are back to normal after being modified due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The well attended Dawn Service will be back again from 6am at the Memorial Wall at ClubMulwala, with assembly at 5.45am.
The Dawn Service will be followed by a ‘Gunfire Breakfast’ at 7am at ClubMulwala for those attending the Dawn Service.
The Mulwala march and ceremony will also be held once again with assembly at Mulwala Bakery at 9.15am for march off at 9.30am for the service at the Memorial located at Old Mill Road.
Assembly for the Yarrawonga ceremony will be outside the old fire station in Piper Street at 10.45am for march off for the 11am service at the War Memorial at the corner of Belmore and Piper Streets’ roundabout.
RSL Sub-Branch President John Burn is expecting big crowds.
“We’re looking forward to a great day,” Mr Burn said.
“Two students from Yarrawonga College P-12 and two Sacred Heart College students will once again conduct the Anzac Day Dawn Service.
“The community is always very supportive of the day, which is greatly appreciated by all who fought for our country and relatives of those former servicemen and servicewomen but especially with a few years of modified commemorations, we are looking forward to seeing our residents again.”
Both Moira Shire and Federation councils will be represented by local councillors with a great number of people also to lay wreaths.
The day before on April 24 the Lake Rowan service will be held with a bus leaving at 9am for the service as well as morning tea. From Lake Rowan the assembly will move on to St James which will hold their usual service before a lunch is included.
Services will also be held at Karana Aged Care and Woods Point throughout the week.
