Despite high winds and lightning in Echuca overnight on Thursday, October 28, the town appears to have missed the havoc seen in other parts of the state.

Echuca aerodrome recorded gusts up to 52km/h about 4am on Friday, and 9mm of rain fell overnight.
Unit controller Judi Cantwell said as of Friday morning, Echuca SES had received no calls for assistance.
“We’ve dodged everything at this moment in time,” she said.
“It seemed to go past us even though there was quite a deal of wind.
“We hope everybody remains safe over the long weekend.”
Across the state, the SES received 2842 calls for assistance, with 2228 of those for fallen trees and 510 for building damage.
More than 171,000 homes and businesses in Victoria were left without power as extreme winds brought down trees and branches on to power lines, and damaged poles and other infrastructure.

In the Powercor network, Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong, Kyneton, Terang and Melbourne’s western suburbs were among the hardest hit areas.
