The biggest of which will see Echuca War Memorial Aquatic Centre’s ceiling insulation replaced ($556,800).
‘‘The ceiling insulation is failing with parts flaking into the pool area,’’ a spokesperson said.
‘‘An engineering study has been completed of the roof structure confirming works required. A new ceiling will be installed with insulation replaced at the same time.’’
Another $355,000 has been set aside for internal building works.
Since the centre was converted into an indoor centre in 1996 and supports 200,000 plus visits across the year, areas need to be refurbished as well as upgraded to meet modern building code and DDA requirements, the council spokesperson said.
Works include improvements to the entry foyer and reception area, administration area, group fitness room, gym room, the old creche separate building and staff amenities.
Meanwhile, EWMAC’s starting blocks are at the end of their life and are not compliant with current regulations.
‘‘Eight new starting blocks will be installed in line with FINA regulations (international swimming federation),’’ the spokesperson said.
Almost $50,000 has been allocated to this project and design for the plantroom and chemical delivery will also be done, costing $60,000.
‘‘The pool was built in the 1960s and the plantroom is outdated and does not protect filtration equipment,’’ the spokesperson said.
‘‘This project will see a design completed for the area to inform what works are required and the cost for consideration in future year’s budgets.’’
The works are proposed under council’s 2019-20 budget. Submissions close on May 9.
