Moama Bowling Club’s Cassandra Millerick traded the maroon for the navy blue in her Victoria Test debut, and the new colours appeared to suit her with a player of the series performance against Tasmania.

The Queensland native starred as Victoria claimed the Valmai Lewis trophy, with the Big V snatching a comprehensive triumph in the five-game series, 4-1 over the Tassies at Karingal Bowling Club at the weekend.
With Millerick taking the role of skip in her maiden test series for her new state, the Vic’s wrapped up the series with a 62 shot to 45 win in game four.
A former title-winner with Queensland, Millerick made the move to Moama last year and said it was pleasing to get under way with an “energised” Victoria squad.
“Coming from a different state, I was worried, but everyone was beautiful and they’re so nice,” Millerick said.
“They’re very energised and up and about, if you’re a bit flat it can go the other way.
“The tournament itself was amazing; normally in Queensland we only play against NSW and then we play nationals.”

The Moama pennant star admitted she didn’t expect to take out the player of the series accolade in her first series despite dropping just one rink for the entire tournament.
Millerick is also the first to be awarded the accolade in the female category after its inception in 2018.
“Player of the series ... that was eye-opening,” Millerick said.
“It was my very first time playing for Victoria and I didn’t expect it. It just put a cherry on top, it was amazing.
“I thought I was rolling them well but I didn’t expect anything, I was just happy to get out there and play some bowls, play with mates, get to know everybody and have a win.”
It’s capped off a busy month on the green’s for Millerick, who progressed to the quarter-finals of the women’s singles tournament in the Australian Open, a personal-best at the event.
Victoria’s female squad were victors alongside the men’s side, who themselves completed a 5-0 clean sweep against Tasmania. Brett Mahoney took out the men’s player of the series category.
The Vic’s next series will be on Millerick’s home green when the Big V face NSW at Moama Bowling Club in August.
