Thursday, July 8
Aaron Loader took advantage of the school holidays to take down teacher Troy Kenny in the stableford event. Jack Hewitt scooted to victory in B grade and the consistent Martin Camenzuli won C grade.
The highlight of the year for many was seeing an un-named board member send one of his mates to retrieve all his golf gear after accidently sending his remote-controlled buggy into Howards Lake.
Geoff Stephenson faded one in beautifully to win the super-pin.

Saturday, July 10
The monthly medal provided plenty of highlights with pro Adam McCrae, Ben Docking and Steve Levy all shooting par. Big hitting Andrew Briggs won the A grade nett and Ben Knight won the medal with a fine nett 67 in B grade.
Col Heywood won the B grade scratch from Shayne Trigwell on a countback. Wayne Eden won the C grade nett and Marc Cain, who was downhearted about his form on Thursday, bounced back to win the C grade scratch. Marcus Kenna took out the super-pin.

Sue Jenkinson put her broken ribs saga behind her to take out the Star Award in Saturday’s event. Golf Committee secretary Noeline King was not far behind in second place and Glenys Smith was third. Karen Fitzy proved again she is tough to beat for the super-pin.

Sunday, July 11
Sunday's top score of 39 points in a medley stableford round saw Steve Crawford take the win in B grade.

B grade: 1st Steve Crawford (39); 2nd Errol Burns (38 c/b); 3rd Ken Wildes (38).
Monday, July 12
Nine-holes: A total of 33 women turned out for Monday's nine-hole stableford round and scores were pretty close. All three placegetters were countbacks and the rundown went to 12th place with 16 points. Nearest the pin was Christine Ross.

18-hole medley: 1st Dean Anderson (35 points); 2nd John Azzopardi (34 c/b); 3rd Nathan Barker (34).

Tuesday, July 13
Frank Crawley had one of the scores of the year to demolish the C grade field on Tuesday. Len Drill also had a great score to win B grade and Tom Flinn edged out Graham Hodgson in a countback for the major A grade prize. Rob Wright won the super-pin.

Wednesday, July 14
The bleak start to Wednesday's weather saw a greatly depleted field of 22 pairs take to the course for the two-ball ambrose qualifier for the NSW Keno Let's Play Ambrose Championship.
The winners qualify to play in a regional final at Deniliquin on October 31.
Debbie Morden and Jan McGuinness (70.25 nett) were overall winners followed by Glenys Smith and Chris Fleming (70) in second place and Christine Ross and Susan Hull (72.5) third.
Nearest the pins were Chris Fleming (A grade), Sally Gough (B) and Dianne McMinn (C). Second shot was Rosalie Drill and Jo Quayle took out the super-pin.
Rich River Veterans
A total of 70 golfers braved the cooler weather to play in an individual stableford event on the East Course on Friday, July 9.
The ever consistent Brian O’Neil won the men’s A grade with 38 points with Len Drill runner-up on 34 points in a countback from Brian Sharp and Tony Kelly.
Leigh Robins won B grade with 34 points in a countback from John Barnes.
Nearest the pins were won by Brian Suffolk, Ray Steele, Keith McCormack and Barry Armstrong.
Rosalie Drill won the ladies A grade event with 36 points, one ahead of Josie Kirkman and Colleen Armstrong.
Lyn Newton took out B grade with 39 points from Jan Annakis and Joy Adam's 34 points.
Nearest the pins were won by Rosalie Drill, Dianne Stewart, Jan Annakis and Vicki Kelly.
The next event will be held on Friday, August 13.
Please note the event scheduled for Friday, August 27 has been cancelled due the Trainee Championships.
Lockington
Golfers played a par round at Lockington on Saturday and enjoyed the best winter weather experienced in quite a few weeks. A good field of 26 golfers included visitors from Tocumwal and Bamawm.
Fresh from a spell, Colin Bacon returned an excellent score of +5, highlighted by a sizzling inside 9-of-5 to win the Privilege Cup as well as the Giddings Co Player of the Day voucher and B grade honours.
Jeff Carnie (square) was runner-up in B grade.
A grade was won by Grant Humbert with one ahead of Andy Freemantle (square), while Mark Lyons won C grade with one.
Jai Milligan (-1) was next best.
Yardstick balls for next best scores (all grades) went to Kevin Humbert, Ray Brereton (both square), Stuart Newton, Brett Stone, James Hodgens and Darren Carnie (all -1).
Nearest the pins went to Kevin Humbert (3rd), Brett Stone (A grade; 2nd shot 9th), Jeff Carnie (B; 2nd shot 9th), Jai Milligan (C; 2nd shot 9th) and Grant Humbert (2nd shot 18th for the eight-pack smack).
Neither the Echuca CIH eagles nest on the 3rd nor Captain Bricka’s yardstick prize on the 16th was won.
Spike’s Longest Drive on the 10th, sponsored by Hot ‘n’ Cold Plumbing, was won by Andy Freemantle (A grade), Colin Bacon (B) and Jai Milligan (C).
It was also great to see Gary Milligan (and his new knee) back on the course having a hit.
Handicap match-play results from the first round saw James Hodgens defeat Jason Wakefield 4-and-3 and Jeff Carnie beat Ray Brereton 2-and-1.
Last Wednesday the ladies played a stableford round. Phyll Macfarlane was in good form and returned the solid score of 32 points to win the Giddings Co Player of the Day voucher, plus B grade honours, with Jan Clymo taking out the runner-up position.
Sue Harris won A grade with 29 points ahead of Pauline Humbert.
Nearest the pins were won by Annette Brereton (A grade) and Jan Clymo (B).

Bamawm
It has been a great week at Bamawm with the Ladies 4BBB completing the 2021 tournament on Tuesday followed by a stableford round on Sunday.
The Ladies 4BBB, sponsored by Bendigo Bank, welcomed visitors from Rich River, Rochester, Neangar Park, Campaspe, Mitiamo, Elmore, Belvoir Park, Lockington and Surfers Paradise.
Thanks goes to Alex Rosea from the Bendigo Bank for attending and presenting prizes to the winners.
Congratulations to Sue Slattery and Jan Alexander who were the winners on the day with 42 points. Runners-up on a countback with 40 points were Denise Pappin and Janine Wiltshire from Marlene Kelly and Heather Martin.
Nearest the pins went to Louise Williams (4/13 3rd shot), Heather Martin (5/14 2nd shot and 7/16) and Louise Williams (8/17). The longest drives were Karen Taylor (A grade 1-25) and Julie Leahy (B; 26-45). The straightest drive was Cath Kelly.

Elmore
Fine weather greeted golfers for the first round of the club championships on Saturday. The championship has this year been generously sponsored by Grogan Machinery, so many thanks to them for the wonderful array of trophies they presented.
Leading scores after the first round in A grade belong to Mitch Whittle with 82, Stuart Niven and Harry Whittle both on 83 and Nick Gibbs and Mac Whittle both on 86.
In B grade leading contenders are Ben Duncan and Lochie Brooks on 91, Harry Grogan with 92, Lochie Mangan on 93 and Jeff Trewick with 97.
The day nett winners in A grade were Mitch Whittle with 82-11-71, while the runner-up was Stuart Niven with 83-9-74 on a countback from Nick Gibbs 86-12-74.
B grade went to Lachie Mangan with 93-21-22 from Harry Grogan on 92-19-23.
Nearest the pins were won by Tom Carboon on 10, Sam McLeod on 14, Dan Dockery on six and Greg Holmberg on 14.
Good luck to all golfers for the remainder of the championships. Remember it is not won on the first day but the last.
