The Campaspe L2P Driver Mentor Program is looking for mentors who can supervise young learner drivers so that they can achieve their required 120 hours with an experienced driver, before applying for a licence.
A spokesperson for the program said they were urgently calling on any mentors who could supervise and assist learners in achieving their goals of becoming a safe driver.
“With two cars available in Echuca and Kyabram, the program provides a minimum of one hour of supervised driving per week to all eligible learner candidates between the ages of 16-21,” the spokesperson said.
In order to apply to be a mentor, you are required to have your full licence, a working with children check and an official police check (both checks are free when you apply as a volunteer).
Full training is also provided to new mentors, with the next training day being held in Echuca on July 21.
Campaspe Cohuna LLEN co-ordinates this road safety program, which is funded by TAC through the Department of Transport.
