“It will have been nearly six months since we have welcomed people through the gates,” he said.
“As a club, we are really looking forward to welcoming people back and what better day to do that than on New Year’s Eve.
“It’s such a fun day out for families and friends.
“We will run a COVIDSafe event, one that follows all of the government guidelines.”
Now more than 15 years since its inception, the New Year’s Eve meeting has become a staple event on the local racing calendar.
From rusted-on fans of horse racing to holidaying families looking to escape the campsite for a day, the meeting is loved by everyone, and this year is set to be no different.
“It has really grown over time,” Mr Armstrong said.
“We get decent crowds each year and with New Year’s Eve being on a Friday this year, we should get a great turnout.
“And it’s great for the kids to come along, it’s a real family event.
“This year we will have a bit of live music and a wide range of activities available for the kids.
“There will be face-painting, sport activities, and if the weather is nice we’ll have a giant slide as well.
“There will be a mixture of activities on offer.”
Mr Armstrong said punters who would like to let their hair down will have access to a free shuttle bus on the day.
“We will run a shuttle bus that will be free of charge and it will stop at places across Echuca-Moama.”
Echuca Racing Club also has an umbrella package for 10 people valued at $350 up for grabs for readers of the Riv.
