Ron Dixon’s red-hot form continued at Lockington on Saturday, with a great score of 42 points, sealing back-to-back best on course victories. He won the Wedgie Trophy, as well as B-grade honours, ahead of Darren Carnie (40).
A-grade was won by Terry Thomas with a fine score of 37, with Steve Holt runner-up on 35. Brad Wakefield won C-grade with 34, on a countback from Don Muhleisen.
Yardstick balls (next best scores, all grades): 38 — Jeff Carnie; 37 — Ian Maddison, Andrew Glatte; 34 — Ash Portwine, Don Muhleisen.
Nearest the pins; 3rd — Trav Mancer; 2nd shot 12th — Mick Giorgianni (A), Ian Maddison (B); 2nd shot 18th for the 6-pack smack — Terry Thomas.
Spike’s Longest Drive on the 8th: Brett Stone (A), Ian Maddison (B), Brad Wakefield (C). Neither the Echuca CIH eagles nest on the 3rd nor Captain Bricka’s yardstick on the 16th was won.
It was terrific to have visitors from Bamawm on the day and the biggest field in quite a few weeks. Good scores were returned on the day, a reflection of the course being in such good condition, thanks to the tireless efforts of the workers.
The women played a foursomes event on Friday. Phyll Macfarlane and Annette Brereton combined really well to return the winning score of 98-27 ½ - 70 ½. Nearest the pins: Phyll Macfarlane, Pauline Humbert.

Rich River Veteran Golfers
Rich River Veteran Golfers played stableford event Friday, July 15, on the West Course followed by lunch and presentations. The next event will be 9am assembly for 9.30 hit off on August 12th.
Susan Hutton had a great day carding an impressive 43 points. Ladies runner up was Rita Freestone with 38 points and Traudy Barnes was third with 35 points. NTP winners were Chris Fleming on the 4th and Joy Adams picked up two NTP’s, the 16th and 19th holes.
Alan Kennett had another great round to win the Men’s event with 39 points on a count back from Martin Camenzuli. John Meincke was third with 37 points. Bruce Bryant had a decent round of 36 points and NTP’s on the 8th and 19th holes. Bruce Fleming took out the NTP on the 4th and Barry Kelly the 16th.

Thursday, July 14:
New member Cory Liefting stole the show in the stableford event when he aced the par three eighth hole. Tom Powell from Torquay GC won a three-way countback for A-grade and Wayne Eden edged out David Long and “Flash” Gordon Jasch in B-grade. Alan Peach had the score of the day to win C Grade in a canter.

Aaron Loader had a huge day when he shot under par to win A-grade and his beloved Kangaroos also had a win. Aaron was not impressed to be “managed” from the pennant side and duly sent a message to the selectors! Ray Byron coped with the cold and windy conditions to win B-grade and Roman Lewandowski has been in good form of late and duly won C-grade.

Daniel Larkin had a round of 39 stableford points to win A-grade in Sunday’s medley, but was outshone by Karen Slater, who had 41 points to take the win in B-grade.

Monday, July 18:
Heather Gunstone had the win in the nine-hole competition with 19 stableford points, ahead of Mairi Eltringham with 17 on a countback to Shirlie Jackson. Debbie Schwarz was nearest the pin.
In the medley 18-hole competition Sue King was the winner with 40 points, from Shayne Trigwell in second place on 38 and Anita Speight was third with 36.
Tuesday, July 19:
Mark and Marc combined beautifully to take out the 4BBB event on Tuesday. Bernie and Evan were hot on their heels in second place. Neil Findlay was a happy recipient of the super-pin.

Round six of the Clarice Cheatley Brooch saw Jodie Armstrong the clear winner with plus six in the par round on the east course. Jodie is now eligible for the final which will be run in conjunction with the stableford round on September 7, along with the other five monthly winners — Lucille George (February), Dianne McMinn (March), Lyn James (April), Nacole Horneman (May) and Carol Eddy (June).
Jodie’s great +6 also scored her the win in B-grade, while Lorraine De Ravin had +4 to win A-grade. Bernie Smith won the super-pin.

NSW Pennant
Rich River has been playing Pennant golf against Murray Downs, Deniliquin and Barham in Scratch and Handicap singles match-play.
Matt Jean has led the Division One Scratch team to second place on the ladder and they will play Deniliquin in the semi-final.
Jiddy Dixon, Aaron Loader, Troy Kenny, Stojko Kresojevic, Paddy Hannon and D’Arcy Whyte are all vying for selection.
Kevin Saillard’s Division Two team finished in third place after the top three teams all finished on two wins. Jaxson McMinn, Craig Griffin, Kev Lister, Roman Lewandowski, John King and Wade Jeffreys are in the squad to play Murray Downs.
Sue and Keith Jenkinson have an undefeated Division Three side and will take on Barham in the semi-final.
Colleen Lynch, Jan McGuinness, Josie Kirkman and Ken Lambert will be tough to beat in the semi-final to be held at Rich River on Sunday, August 7.
