Youngsters Tommi Wesley and Paddy Hannon were seven under par after eight holes and despite cooling off later in the round - some would say choked - were too good in the two-person ambrose. Des Carey hit a great shot on 16 to take the super-pin with his partner for the day demanding half the prize.

Saturday, June 19
It was a day of close results with Steve Turner taking out A grade, Will McKenzie B grade and Garry Jeffery edging out Jesse Dean for the C grade prize. Simon Reid took out the super-pin.

Josie Kirkman had a great round to take out the ladies stableford event on Saturday. Vicki Shipp and Jo Cash were in good form too and Gloria Bennett hit one close to win the super-pin.

Sunday, June 20
There was a good field of 75 players for the Sunday stableford medley and junior Rhylee Chapman was in fine form to win B grade with a fantastic 43 points on a countback to Julie Rowbottom.

Monday, June 21
9-holes: Par was the competition of the day on Monday and Julie Charlton had a good round to win A grade with +2 followed by Dianne Paterson and Carol Eddy, both on -1. Nearest the pin was Jennifer French and Julie Charlton continued her winning day with nearest the pin (second shot).

18-holes medley: A visitor from Kew Golf Club, Grant Orr, took the win with two on a countback to Elaine Roberts and Marg O'Brien. Nearest the pins were Peter Anderson and Ann McPherson.

Tuesday, June 22
Laurie and Barry Scott made no friends after they took apart the two-person puttose field on Tuesday. A couple of Turtles – Joel Watson and David Long - were in second and John Main was the man on the super-pin hole.

Wednesday, June 23
The rain deterred all but 34 players who turned out for the stableford round which was also the final round of the Premier League, which was won by Eight Tarts in an extremely close one point finish against Rich River Diamonds.
There were some good scores in the very wet conditions and Lorraine De Ravin scored 38 points to take out top place.
Nearest the pins on the third went to Nacole Horneman (A grade) and Lorraine De Ravin (B) while on the eighth, it was Heather Gunstone (A), Carolyn Smith (B) and Kerry McLaughlan (C).
Winnie Lavery won the super-pin.

Echuca Back Nine
Members played Pinehurst Pairs on Friday, June 18. Although a small field, it was an enjoyable day. Winners were:
Men's A grade: 1st Dean Moore and Murray Osbourne (37.25 nett); 2nd Tony Maynard and Graham Pawsley (35.25).
Men's nearest the pin: 4th Steve March.
Women's nearest the pin: 4th Lorna Alchin.

Lockington
On the Queen's Birthday Public Holiday, a field of 48 golfers from Lockington and Rochester gathered at the Lockington Golf Course, with the Ces Parsons Memorial Shield up for grabs.
First played in 2015, the event has built up a friendly rivalry and great camaraderie and is keenly contested. The home club has always managed to win – well until this year that is – with Rochester winning the shield by just two points in an extremely close finish, 499-497.
Best individual score went to Laurie Radley (Rochester) with 40 ahead of runner-up Kevin Humbert 38 and Cate Ward (Rochester) on a countback.
It was a memorable day for Ward, in what was her first-ever competition hit away from her home club.
Nearest the pins went to Jenny Holt and Grant Humbert (3rd), Di Gallagher (Rochester) and Ron Dixon (7th); Rochester's Barb McCarty and Tim Quinlan (16th); Rochester's Louise Williams and Des Gallagher (17th) and Stuart Newton (second shot 18th).
The longest drive went to Rochester's Matt Jean (A grade) and Russell Anderson (B).
The ball competition included Louise Williams, Brett Stone, Mark Lyons (37), Ray Brereton, Bruce Bryant (36), Ron Dixon (35), Ian Pollard (Rochester), Richard Feuk (Rochester), Steve Holt and Jeff Carnie (34).
Last Wednesday the ladies played stroke and the second round of the club championships.
Annette Brereton (91-15-76) won the Giddings Co Player of the Day voucher, as well as A grade honours ahead of Sue Harris.
Helen Hayes (110-31-79) won B grade on a countback from Jan Clymo. Count the putts went to Annette Brereton (A grade; 26) and Helen Hayes (B; 27).
Good things come to those who wait, and after playing golf at Lockington for more than 40 years, Des Pentreath had one of those moments on Saturday, winning the St Andrews Trophy for the first time.
Despite the testing conditions and a couple of unfortunate sevens on par threes, Des returned the fine score of 99-28-71 to win the trophy as well as the Lockington Community Pub Player of the Day voucher on a countback from Mat Dennis (77-6-71).
A grade was won by Mat Dennis ahead of Grant Humbert (76-3-73). In a close finish, B grade honours went to Darren Carnie (93-20-73) narrowly from Will Hardess (95-21-74) and Ian Maddison (92-18-74). Des Pentreath won C grade from Tony Brooke (111-35-76) and Mark Lyons (99-23-76).
Nearest the pins went to Bowden Stone (3rd), Mat Dennis (2nd shot 11th, A grade), Andrew Glatte (2nd shot 11th, B), Mark Lyons (2nd shot 11th, C) and Jimmy Hodgens (2nd shot 18th for the eight-pack smack).
Spike’s Longest Drive on the 15th, sponsored by Hot ‘n’ Cold Plumbing, went to Brett Stone (A grade), Bowden Stone (B) and JD Wright (C).
The Echuca CIH eagles nest on the 3rd wasn’t won, and neither was captain Bricka’s yardstick on the 16th which jackpots to $192 for next week.
Saturday’s round was also the third preliminary round of the club championships.

A good field turned up on Sunday to enjoy the beautiful weather and compete in a stableford competition.
Winner of the ladies competition with 32 points was Nikita Frawley with Lyn Kingston runner-up, while the winner of the men’s competition was Francis Lee with 34 points on a countback from Rick Connors.
Nearest the pins went to Darcy Taylor (men's 4/13 second shot), Lyn Kingston (ladies 5/14 third shot), Geoff Crossman (7/16) and Neville Vicary (8/17).
The longest drive went to Ben Newth and Morgan Dingwall.

Elmore
A cool damp morning started Elmore's Centenary tournament with a Ladies 4-BBB stableford.
Winners were Joy Kennedy and Muriel Pitts-Axedale with 42 points, while the runner-up was Rich River's Lyn Kingston and Rochester's Di Gallagher on 35. Third was Ju Roulston and Mitiamo with 33 points.
Nearest the pins went to Rochester's Barbara McCarty (6th) and Di Gallagher (10th), while the straightest drives were Rich River's Lyn Kingston and Rochester's Jenny Major (3rd).
In Friday's Men’s 4BBB Stableford, the division one winners were Luke Price and Mitch Whittle with 44 points ahead of runners-up Ian Doak and Rod Doak with 41.
Division two winners were Tom Carboon and Al Campbell with 45 points, while runners-up were Max Williams and Jeff Trewick with 41 on a countback from Rod Whittle and Drew Shotton.
Nearest the pins went to Geoff Burke (6th), Denis Hardie (10th) and Harry Whittle (18th). Straightest drive on the 3rd was David Vanston.
Saturday's Mixed Pinehurst gross winners were Leigh White and Kerry Scales with 83.
Division one nett winners were Denis and Sandy Griffiths (87-13.875- 73.125) with runners-up Len and Rosalie Drill (85 -10.125 -74.875).
Division two nett winners were Greg and Sandra Watkins (94-20.625-73.375) ahead of runners-up Paul Witham and Lorna Wilson (95 – 15.75 -79.25).
Nearest the pins for the ladies was Kate Burke (4th) and Ruth Iser (6th), while for the men’s it was Leigh White (6th) and Len Drill (10th).
The straightest drive in the ladies was Lorna Wilson, while Greg Holmberg took out the men's.
Sunday's Men’s 36-hole Stroke saw Mac Whittle parring the course with 72 in AM as the 36-hole gross division one winner. Well done Mac, and 82 PM total 154.
Gross division two winner was Nick Gibbs (87-83-170), while the 36 hole nett division one winner was Mitch Whittle (71-73-144). Div 2 went to Ben Duncan (78-70-148).
The 18-hole AM nett division one winner was Ant Tanner (86-11-75), while the 18-hole PM nett division one was won by Rod Whittle (89-13-76).
The 18-hole AM division two winner was Jeff Trewick (93-21-72), while the 18-hole PM Nett division two was won by Harry Grogan (92-18-74) on a countback from Matt Gilmour (101-27-74).
Nearest the pins were won by Lachie Mangan (6th) and Shane Muir (10th). The longest drive on the 8th was Harry Grogan while the straightest drive on the 3rd was Jim Grogan.
Nearest the pin (14th) over the tournament was Luke Price.

Near perfect weather over the last three days made for excellent conditions around the course.
Saturday afternoon the centenary plaque was unveiled by president Max Williams and past member Nance Niven.
This was followed by wonderful refreshments and entertainment by some golfers. The golf club thanks all who attended and a special thanks goes to all the sponsors.
Last week's chicken run was won by Phil Mace, with Max Williams nearest the pin on the 4th.
This Sunday, June 27 is a men’s stableford, monthly medal, and round three of Privilege Cup.
