The number three seems written in the stars for the six-year-old mare at the moment, as she looks to shed a triplet of third places in recent months.
And if all goes to plan when she runs the $35,000 BM70 Hcp over 1300m this afternoon, it would be the mare's third career win.
A third at Mildura, followed by back-to-back thirds at Bendigo, has seen Madam Superior in consistent form recently.
But Cornish said the one thing beating her had been the state of the tracks.
“She doesn't like a firm track, but she doesn't like it too wet either,” Cornish said.
“The slow 5 and 6 and good 4 are probably her ideal situation.
“Last start she copped a heavy track. It went from a good 4 to a heavy 10, but the one thing she showed was toughness to still get through the going.
“Tomorrow she finds a better track (soft 5) and we're crossing our fingers the weather forecast stays the same.”
After a scratching at Swan Hill last week, Cornish said the team had decided to save Madam Superior up for the better race tomorrow after the track deteriorated to a soft 3 by the final race.
The team will also look to maintain the status quo by keeping Jason Maskiell on top of the mare, after he guided her to her two most recent thirds at Bendigo.
“We opted for Maskiell because he hasn't done a thing wrong with her,” Cornish said.
“We're happy with him on top and he knows the horse.”
While Cornish is bullish on Madam Superior's chances, one thing that does surprise him is her odds, with a starting price of $41.
“This is a horse that was racing in Saturday company in town and only beaten by a couple of lengths, and has come out with her last three runs in the country and had excuses but still picks up third,” he said.
“It was 10-1 to place and the last was 12-1 to place, so she's been very good value for the punter."
Whatever the outcome for Madam Superior tomorrow though, Cornish expects the mare to take a bit of a break afterwards, before heading to the Moonee Valley Night Series under lights later this month.
