Jim Thomas let “Stan the Statistician” down when he scored 41 points on Thursday — a result of 40, 39 and 39 in all grades would have been a highlight.
Another highlight for many was the tale of Graham Hodgson, who decided to wash himself and his clubs in the dam on 16.
Forty-five minutes later after retrieving clubs, wallet, phone and car keys, Hodgson re-joined his group to finish the round. Pity his beloved Saints couldn’t show as much fight!
A-grade: 1st John Bedford (40 points); 2nd Neville Speight (39); 3rd Mark Lynch (39).
B-grade: 1st Neil Edwards (40 points); 2nd Keith Jones (39); 3rd Peter Colliver (39).

Steve Morgan nearly pulled off the incredible feat of winning the Monthly Medal and Privilege Cup in the one month, with Luke Young coming in late in the day to pip him and Kieran Dullard.
A rarer feat was achieved on 11 east by Shayne Trigwell, who hit his second shot on the par five into the hole for an albatross.
It was witnessed by his playing partners as well as the group in front of them as the ball went through the legs of a player putting on the green.
Simon “Doc” Locke’s eagle on the same hole paled in significance.
A-grade: 1st Steve Morgan (42 points); 2nd Trent Eacott (41); 3rd Luke Keogh (41).
B-grade: 1st Luke Young (42 points); 2nd Shannon Cronin (40); 3rd Steve Edwards (39).
