The Ladies Volkswagen Scramble was held in January and the winners were Jan Annakis, Winnie Lavery, Cheryl Ashworth and Heather Gunstone with a score of 62.625.
In second was the team of Colleen Lynch, Suzan Hutton, Deborah Quittner and Christine Doherty with 64 and third with 64.5 were Jan McGuinness, Debbie Morden, Diane Symons and Marion Whatley.
Thursday, February 11
Friendships were tested in a two-person ambrose played on the east course.
Brian Gledhill and Glenn Jefferies did best with the runner-up team, drowning their sorrows after play with a lot of ‘what ifs'.
A big field of 204 played, with 68 nett on countback winning a voucher and Bob McKinnon winning the super-pin with one of his eight clubs – there is no need to over-complicate things.
Results: 1st: Brian Gledhill and Glenn Jefferies (61 nett), 2nd: Mick Young and Craig Griffin (61.25). 3rd: Brenton Schubert and Jarrad Dullard (61.25).
Saturday, February 13
Adam Nolan won for the second week running as Darren Kulbars came out of the shadow of his wife’s recent heroics to win B grade.
Brett Vincent enjoyed taking the money from his regular group after winning C grade.
The lockdown in Victoria meant only 128 played the east course with 36 points on a countback winning a voucher.
Ian Williams was a happy winner of the super-pin.

B grade: 1st: Darren Kulbars (39), 2nd: Josh Pell (37), 3rd: Ross Young (36).

Neville Speight took out the medley stableford event with Jim Cosgriff, no doubt appealing the decision, finishing runners-up.
The voucher rundown went to 34 points.

Monday, February 15
9 Hole: Monday marked the opening of season 2021 for the women’s nine-hole competition.
Due to the lockdown in Victoria numbers were down but 20 players contested a two-person ambrose event.
Margaret Arnold and Joyce Moresi combined beautifully to take the major prize from Sally Gough and Elizabeth Connick.
Shirlie Jackson was nearest the pin.
Results: 1st: Margaret Arnold and Joyce Moresi (35 nett), 2nd: Sally Gough and Elizabeth Connick (36.6).
18 Hole: Monday’s 18- medley was also a two-person ambrose and was won by the in-form Cheryl Ashworth and Sue Mulcahy with 68.25, followed by Marilyn Robins and Lorraine De Ravin with 72.75.
Marg Young was nearest the pin.
Tuesday, February 16
A field of 115 played the west course with nett 74 on a countback winning a voucher.
Steve Morgan shot under par to win A grade, but was upstaged by Garry Jones in B grade who beat his handicap by a massive 10 shots.
Adrian Schulz won a tight C grade event and Wayne Eden pocketed the super-pin.
A grade: 1st: Steve Morgan (68 nett), 2nd: Nicholas Lynch (70), 3rd: Dave Kelly (70).
B grade: 1st: Garry Jones (61), 2nd: Ken Ashworth (69), 3rd: Dylan Stevenson (70).
C grade: 1st: Adrian Schulz (72), 2nd: Alex McCrae (73), 3rd: Graeme Birch (73).
Wednesday, February 17
Wednesday was monthly medal day for the women on the east course and taking out the medal with a magnificent 62 nett and also claiming a nearest the pin was Lesley Mitchell.
Colleen Lynch and Lorraine Healey were second and third in B grade behind Lesley.
Lyn James took out A grade just edging out Gloria Bennett and Dale Haw.
Nearest the pins were won by vice-captain Marg Davison, Diane Watson, Carol Eddy, Denise Ferrier, and Lesley Mitchell.
Josie Kirkman was nearest with her second shot on the 13th and the super-pin on the eighth, worth 48 points, was won by Sally Gough.
A grade: 1st: Lyn James (70 nett), 2nd: Gloria Bennett (71), 3rd: Dale Haw (71).
B grade: 1st: Lesley Mitchell (62), 2nd: Colleen Lynch (70), 3rd: Lorraine Healey (71).
Rich River Veterans
On Friday, February 12, 80 golfers played an individual stableford event on the west course before enjoying a delicious meal in the Tatalia room.
Karen Mahady won the Ladies A grade event with 35 points in a five-way countback from Lyn Kingston, Gloria Bennett, Toni Beck and Ellen Banko.
B grade was won by Ann McPherson with 37 points ahead of Joy Adam with 36 points.
Glenys Smith, Gloria Bennett and Jan Annakis were on shot taking out the nearest the pin awards.
Grant Stewart took out the men’s A grade event with the best score of the day, 38 points.
Mark Emery was runner-up with 37 points.
Len Drill and Bill Ramsey also had good rounds with 36 points.
B grade was won by Ray Steele with 36 points ahead of Neil Moresco with 35 points.
Ray Burgman and Barry Kelly took out the nearest the pin on the 4th with Brian O’Neill and Chris Bilkey on 16th.
The next event will be Friday, February 26 and will include lunch.
