Echuca/Moama & District Probus Club
We are the founding club of four Probus clubs in the area and we are looking to expand our membership.
We meet on the last Monday of the month at Rich River Golf Club at 10am, with the exception of December. We meet for morning tea on the first Monday of the month at various venues as we try to support all the businesses in the area. We meet for lunch on the Monday before the meeting, again at a venue around town.
Our aim is to get together and enjoy each other’s company at meetings etc and also on various outings. We have some good laughs and fun times.
With the present-day situation, we, like the other three clubs, have difficulty filling buses and venues so all the committees have decided to work together on outings, which is proving to be very successful.
If anyone is interested in becoming a member of our club either come to a general meeting at Rich River Golf Club on the last Monday in the month where you will be made very welcome or, if you fancy a morning tea or lunch, phone Val Cosway on 0409 416 078 to find out where that month’s venues are.
A walk in the park at parkrun
Parkrun is the name, but you don’t have to run or be a runner to get involved in this free weekly 5km event that takes place at 8am every Saturday, starting at Lions Park, corner of Campaspe Esplanade and Ogilvie Ave, Echuca.
While walkers have always been welcome and celebrated at the 450 parkruns around Australia each Saturday, the month of October will be dedicated to encouraging even more people to walk.
More than 10 per cent of people who complete the 5km course at Aussie parkruns do so as walkers, and the organisation is keen to significantly increase this number.
The campaign will see parkrun change its logo to ‘parkwalk’ for the month of October, with bright pink branding designed to capture the attention — and the imagination — of people who might not think parkrun is for them.
“Parkruns are social events where there is no time limit and people of all ages and abilities take part, including people pushing prams or with their dog on a short hand-held lead. It’s all about getting involved in a way that is fun and comfortable for you,” Echuca Moama parkrun volunteer event director Andy Rogers said.
Echuca Moama parkrun takes place at Lions Park, corner of Campaspe Esplanade and Ogilvie Ave, Echuca, every Saturday at 8am
Registration is free at www.parkrun.com.au/register
