Echuca-Moama marathon man Brady Threlfall was first across the line in the 10km of the first Sweat vs Steam on Sunday, admitting he was simply happy to be back racing at the event.

Threlfall ran the revised course in 32 minutes and 11 seconds, his latest in a long list of wins in the event, but the impact of having the race back after a COVID-enforced hiatus was plain to see, according to the experienced runner.
“It’s good just to have it back up and running, it’s a big community event,” he said.
“It just shows how important it is to the town. A lot of events have struggled to get back up after COVID but it’s great to have this one back.
“It’s good to run your local race and see the support, and the energy was really good among the runners.”
Fresh off competing in the Melbourne Marathon the weekend before, Threlfall praised the revised route and his nearest competitor, A.J. Beer.
“A.J. set a pretty good pace early,” he said.
“I liked the course, it’s nice to have it running both ways so you can see more people.”
Threlfall is in the middle of preparations for the Valencia Marathon in Spain which is set to take place in early December.
