Like a good racehorse, Steve Jones goes well fresh and after a few weeks off he won by the length of the straight.
The heavy 10 conditions meant there were plenty of scratchings but Simon Pearce and Ian Maddison relished the conditions to finish in the placings.
Colin Gniel has been in good form and won the super-pin as well as the nearest-the-pin.

Saturday, October 8
Near-perfect conditions produced some great scores as Peter Varcoe claimed the privilege cup with a great score of 45 points.
There were a host of scores in the forties with Neil Orchard, Dave Foskitt, Scott Slater, Simon Cheong, Justin Kirk and Dave Edwards having one hand on the cup throughout the day.
Peter Quanchi had two eagles, which is more than most get in a year, while Brad Murray won a big super-pin.
Men

Ingrid Coburn and Karen Mose have both been featuring in the results of late so it was fitting that a countback was needed to separate them in the stableford competition.
Ingrid snuck home with a better score on the back nine. Janine Morgan was in third place and Fitzy won the super-pin and nearest the pin.

Sunday, October 9
Local Ashley Smith and Charles Hogg, visiting from Latrobe Golf Club, had the best scores of 41 points in A-grade on the Goulburn (blue) west course, with Ashley taking top spot on a countback. Nathan Beecroft was third on 38.
In B-grade, Leigh Robins had 39 to win from Tracey Sigge's 38 and Brian Guille on 36.
Monday, October 10
The women played their nine-hole stroke round on the east Campaspe (green) course for the October Stellar award and Carolyn Smith had the best score of 30 nett to take the award and the A-grade win. Jo Cash was second with 33 nett on a countback to Tracey Burton.
In B-grade, Robyn Wood was the winner with 35 on a countback to Shirlie Jackson. Noelene Charlton made up the top trio with 36 nett.
Nearest-the-pin was Moira Thomas.
In the medley 18-hole round, Stephen Harris took the A-grade honour with 70 nett from Marion Whatley in second place on 71, on a countback to David O'Dea.
The B-grade winner was Denise Neal with 69 nett, from Jo Quayle with 70 and Melva Howell 72. Nearest-the-pin was Vicki Kelly.
Tuesday, October 11
By all reports Ray Byron was more stunned with the form of Rowan Hill and Greg McGill in the American Foursomes than he was with the goings on at Essendon last week.
Graham Hodgson sacked his usual fourball partner Steve and it paid dividends with a second-place finish. A couple of old stagers came in third. Rowan Hill and Clarke Taylor were on song on the par threes with two each.

Wednesday, October 12
The weather once again forced the postponement of the women's 27-hole Directors Trophy and the competition was cut back to 18 holes stroke.
From a depleted field of 31 players only 14 finished the round and Sally Gough emerged the winner with 70 nett from Jan Annakis 72 and Lorraine De Ravin 74. Congratulations to all who played through the heavy rain to finish.
There was no nearest-the-pin but Lyn James was the super-pin winner.
Rich River Golf Club Veterans
Due to golf carts not being permitted on the course on Friday, October 7, the first round of the Championships has been postponed until Friday, October 21 with the second round on November 4.
Instead, 22 golfers braved the wet on Friday to play an individual stableford event on the West course.
Brian O’Neil won the men’s event with 40 points, one shot ahead of Trevor Moody. Trevor also won the NTP.
Joy Adams won the ladies with 38 points on a count back from Colleen Armstrong. Yvonne Smith won the NTP on the 16th hole.
Nominations for the RRGC Veterans committee close Friday, October 14 with the AGM scheduled for November 4.
