Thursday, November 3:
It was a countback all round to decide the A-grade event with the wily Guy Galvin tipping out “young gun “ Matt for the major prize.
Ross North did likewise in B-grade edging past Dave Cockroft who has returned in fine form from a recent lay-off.
Like a fine wine, Barry Devlin continues to deliver taking out C-grade. Rob Kilgour put two holes together when he was nearest the pin on the third and then holed his second shot for eagle on the par four fourth.

Saturday, November 5:
By all reports Jim Thomas, Griffo and Ap were all celebrating winning the Privilege Cup until Kevin Whitby trumped them all with a great score of 46 stableford points.
Luke Young put the disappointment of narrowly losing Thursday’s Order of Merit behind him to edge out the in-form Glenn Rogers for the A-grade major prize.
Max Prendergast’s hole out for eagle on the par five 18th hole from 130 metres is a story in itself. Standing on the 17th tee with 23 points, Max proceeded to par 17 for a four pointer and then eagled 18 for a six pointer to finish with a respectable 33 points.
Has anyone ever heard of a six pointer, or 10 points in two holes for that matter? Great work Max.

Janine Morgan played beautifully to win the women’s event by a big margin. Sue Jenkinson had a great day finishing runner-up and winning the super-pin on 16. Karen Mose is a player on the rise and took third place.

Sunday, November 6:
A countback was needed in A-grade, but Stojko Kresojevic took the win with +3 from Aaron Stevens, with Bob McKinnon close behind on +2.
However, Tracey Burton had the day’s best score to take the B-grade prize with +4, from Cory Liefting on +2 and Ken Wildes +1.

Monday, November 7:
With the sun shining at last and the course in great condition, the last Stellar Award before the final was won by Debbie Schwarz with 21 stableford points.
Deborah Egan-Magnay was close on her heels with 20 and Jane McKindlay took third place on 19. Lynne McGrath was nearest the pin.
Rohan Gentle was the A-grade winner in the 18-hole medley with 39 stableford points, while Matt Bell and Keith Jenkinson were tied on 38, Matt taking second spot on a countback to Keith. Brendan Baumann was nearest the pin.
Tuesday, November 8:
The championships are just around the corner and the course is firming up, so good scores were a lot harder to find.
Peter Colliver and Mick Lizza fought out A-grade, with Flipper Wilson taking the B-grade honours.
John Holderhead pipped Tom Chadwick and Bob Peters for the C-grade win and Dean Bruns has been working hard on his game of late, winning the super-pin for his efforts.

Wednesday, November 9:
With the championships starting on the 16th there were many players hitting fine form in this week’s stroke round.
Gabi Christians especially had a great 67 nett to win in C-grade and had the best round of the day to take the final round of the Monthly Medal.
The monthly winners and countbacks from all medal rounds will play off for the Medal of Medallists in the first round of the championships.

Order of Merit
The Order of Merit is a points based system based on competition leaderboards and ran from January to the end of October.
Dianne McMinn has played great golf all year and won the Monday Medley and Wednesday Women’s events — a fine achievement.

Rich River Golf Club Veterans
Eighty-four golfers played a stableford event in the long-awaited sunshine on the West course on Friday, November 4.
Maree Collins won the ladies A-grade event with 37 points with Marilyn Robbins second on 35 points. Suzan Hutton won the ladies B-grade event with 41 points and best score of the day.
Colleen Lynch was runner-up with 36 points on a countback from Gloria Martin and Pat Sanders. Marilyn Robbins, Nola Bennett and Colleen Lynch won the NTPs.
Trevor Moody took out the men’s A-grade event with 38 points, one point ahead of David Whytcross.
B-grade was won by John Barnes with 39 points on a countback from Brian Guille. NTPs were won by Grant Stewart and David Whytcross.
The AGM followed the day’s event and the new committee to lead the 250-member group were elected unopposed.

The next event will be an individual stableford event in conjunction with mystery partners sponsored by the NSWVGA on Friday, December 9.
