Social bowls held on Saturday last week after the lockdown saw Di Payne, Jeff Werner and Bob Pratt take home the spoils with three wins (+9) from Leica Roney, Joan Armstrong and John Kelly, also with nine but with two wins and a draw.
Monday’s social bowls last week saw 24 bowlers attend, with the best performance coming from Bill Cook, Joan Dovaston and Tommy Maher who won two-and-a-half games (68 points) from runners-up Ivan Hicks, Bob Pratt and Ray McDonnell with two games and 56 points.
Last Thursday’s men’s jackpot pairs was won by Vic Woods and Ron Bentley from Rich River with 34 shots up from John Brown and Maurice Harley with 14 shots up.
Only one other team won both their games. Best one game went to Ray Hanson and Andrew Harris with 23 shots up.
Last Saturday an excellent roll-up of 30 bowlers attended social bowls with the winners being Keith Robertson, Daryl LaVelle and Bill Toll with two wins plus 13 shots from Steve Cunnington, Max Clifford and Tom Maher who managed a win and a draw plus 12 shots.
Bowlers are reminded of two approaching tournaments being the ever popular Spiers family memorial spring fours to be held on the weekend of August 14 and 15 and the Joyce Thorn ladies classic pairs on the weekend of September 12 and 13. Entries for the Spiers event are filling quickly and should be made to tournament secretary Ronnie Gallagher on 0448 400 051 or placed on the entry sheet in the club rooms.

Thirty players played three games of 11 ends. The winners on 46 points were J. Heales, C. Glass and M. McFadden.
Runners-up with 43 points were P. Reyment, D. Beer, B. Glasson and P. Eley.
Consolation prizes went to D. Lee, P. Kerr, M. Hardy and P. Allez.
Lockington
The club held its annual general meeting recently with an ideal attendance.
Club president Ray Hanson welcomed all members and presented his annual president's report, where he thanked all committee members for their support.
The ladies committee received special thanks for all the important work and contribution to further enhance the club and promote its future wellbeing.
Hanson congratulated all club champions on their victories.
Tournament secretary Chris Stewart was acknowledged for the success of Lockington's tournaments in a trying year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Greens staff members Kevin Humbert and Les Brereton were thanked for all their efforts in preparing the immaculate playing surfaces the club has on offer and which certainly attracts good numbers for tournaments.
Long-serving member Bev Brereton congratulated Ray Hanson on his 12 months in office and officiated the election of office bearers for the 2021-22 season.

Junior vice-president: Brian Kinnane.
Secretary: Steve Peter.
Treasurer: Alan Kauffman.
Tournament secretary: Chris Stewart.

Club treasurer Alan Kauffman then presented a healthy financial report in such a difficult year of bowls.
There is still some action at the club with the game of Scrounge being held on a Wednesday at 1pm, weather permitting.
Names to be listed before 12.45pm. Please wear flat-soled shoes. There are bowls available.
Last week at Scrounge, the left-handers dominated the three rinks with Andy Harris, Graham Turner and Russell Shawcross winning the individual rinks.
The club is waiting on the results of the Bendigo/Campaspe/Goldfields regional meeting on July 11 before indicating the respective pennant teams to participate in season 2021-22.
