The Mathoura community got in early for its Christmas celebrations this year.

The town’s annual Carols by Candlelight was held in the Soldiers’ Memorial Gardens on Sunday evening.

Families turned up with their picnic rugs or chairs for a brilliant night of entertainment, with many donning Christmas themed outfits.

The free event was organised by the Mathoura On The Map Committee, with the Echuca Salvation Army Choir and friends leading the carols sing-along.

There was also a sausage sizzle and a visit from Santa.
