Blues beaten, but they played better

IN A YEAR where development is key, learning from the best sides is what Tongala must do.

Despite suffering a 23-goal loss against second-placed Rumbalara on Saturday, the Blues took another step forward as they look to work their way up the Murray Netball ladder.

Last week, coach Caddison Mulholland made it clear that she wanted to see a four-quarter performance from her team — but the physical style of Rumbalara proved to be too much in the game’s biggest moments. '

While they would be disappointed with the result, Tonny would be pleased with their improvement given the previous defeat to Cobram, where they were well below standard.

The loss sees Tongala now sit two points outside the top eight following Congupna’s draw with Nathalia. In their next two games, the Blues will face off against Deniliquin and Finley and if Tongala can win one of them it could prove vital in their bid for finals action.

Mulholland was unable to be reached for comment.
