Free bikes turns town into cycle city

Mayor Adrian Weston said six bikes with baskets were available from the Port of Echuca Discovery Centre between 9am-5pm thanks to the new free to hire Port picnic bikes sponsored by the Moama Bowling Club.

‘‘This tourism initiative provides visitors and locals the opportunity to cycle their way around town, relishing the atmosphere and keeping fit at the same time,’’ Cr Weston said.

The hire process is simple and each bike comes with a helmet, lock and town map. Bikes are best suited for adults and can be hired for the day.

‘‘Visitors can use the map provided to visit historic landmarks, collect gourmet delicacies from local shops and have a picnic by the river or journey over the bridge to Moama and back,’’ Cr Weston said.
