The First National Charles L King Johnno’s Run team is holding a trivia night fundraiser next Friday to bolster their balance in the lead up to Run Melbourne at the end of this month.
And whether you’re a trivia buff, get stuck on how to spell chihuahua or have no clue who Phoebe, Ross and Rachel are, you’re welcome to come along.
So far the team has raised more than $3000 and has the goal of $4000 which they’re looking likely to achieve.
CLK director Troy O’Brien said the team of about 12 runners is looking for innovative ways to support Community Living and Respite Services.
‘‘We’ve been involved with CLRS for 15 years through the charity auction dinner and so a natural extension of that was to ask ‘what else can we do?’,’’ he said.
‘‘In the past we’ve had people from here running in Johnno’s Run but this year is the first time we have Team CLK.
‘‘Everyone is doing something different, some people are walking, some are running and it’s all different distances.’’
On the fundraising front the team has had a barbecue, raffle, now a trivia night and donating a portion of property sales.
‘‘We’re donating $50 from every property sale, and we donated about $800 in one month from the sales alone,’’ he said.
‘‘But I’ve been surprised at the generosity of the community. People are so willing to give to the Opening Doors Project, it’s not a hard sell.
‘‘We’re looking for as many ways to get involved as we can and the generosity of everyone is almost inspiring — it drives you to say ‘we can do something too’.’’
Property manager Chloe Conway is organising the trivia night and encouraged people to get a group together.
‘‘We’re all pretty excited about it. There has been a fair bit of interest so far and we’re planning to have 60-70 people there,’’ she said.
With Gary Wood being the master of ceremonies it’s bound to be entertaining — and there is a host of items on offer in prizes as well as an auction throughout the night.
First prize is two nights at Annesley House including breakfast, hamper and a bottle of bubbly, second is a $500 Flight Centre travel voucher and third is a hamper packed full of goodies.
■The First National Charles L King trivia night is on Friday, July 12 at The Royal Hotel beginning at 7pm. Cost is $20 per head, play solo or in a team. For information contact Chloe at Charles L King on 54811717.
