The local bourse has suffered a day of losses amid fears about the economic outlook and even nuclear war, with oil prices plunging on concerns of reduced demand even as China relaxed COVID-19 restrictions.

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index finished Thursday down 53.9 points, or 0.75 per cent, to a two-and-a-half-week low of 7175.5, while the broader All Ordinaries lost 53.8 points, or 0.72 per cent, to 7369.4.
Meanwhile, the Australian dollar was buying 67.11 US cents, from 67.04 at Wednesday's ASX close.
