Auctions across the state were cancelled over the weekend due to Victoria’s snap five-day lockdown, including half-a-dozen in Shepparton.
However, auctions this weekend across the region will be a mix of online and in-person following the announcement of the end of Victoria’s snap five-day lockdown from Thursday.
Kevin Hicks Real Estate director Kevin Hicks said while online auctions were conducted during the last lockdown, he said there was now close consideration around making online bidding part of most auctions.
“We’ll open it up and people can jump online with the link and we’ll let them in,” he said.
“If they can see the auctioneer then there isn’t a problem . . . it’s worked really well before.”
Mr Hicks had one auction over the weekend scrapped, and said he’d “continue to sell”, with about 15 auctions scheduled over the coming two months.
“We’re very confident if they’ve seen (the property) or a trusted representative has gone through we can sell it online,” he said.
He said it would be a boon for Melbourne-based buyers, whose interest had picked up in the last two or three months.
“During the last set of restrictions we had an auction in Murchison East which had 10 invited buyers (in-person) and another 26 through an online link,” he said.
“The last two or three months there have been stronger enquiries (from Melbourne buyers), both investors and those looking for a tree change.”
