What’s on this Australia Day?

The Australia Day weekend is just around the corner and Benalla and district, as always, has a range of events to celebrate the occasion.

In Benalla, Sunday, Januray 26, will kick off with a flag raising on the Lake Benalla foreshore at 8 am.

That is followed by the Benalla Rotary Breakfast - available for only a gold coin donation.

Happy campers return

At 9 am there will be a presentation to the Benalla Achiever of the year for 2020.

Benalla Rural City Council's Australia Day awards presentation at BPACC starts at 11.30 am and will include:

● A citizenship ceremony for Benalla's newest Australians;

● Live entertainment;

● A light lunch; and

● Presentation of Australia Day Awards.

Ned Kelly premier a win for local attraction

BPACC will also be hosting a free screening of Ride Like a Girl (PG) at 2.30 pm - Tickets must be reserved at the box-office.

Benalla Aquatic Centre will be holding a Community Fun Day with floating inflatables, DJ, and sausage sizzle. Open from 1 pm to 5 pm. Entry is a gold coin donation.

There will also be Australia Day celebrations in the following communities:

● Baddaginnie - At the CFA Shed - 8.30 am, flag raising and breakfast.

● Devenish - At Bicentennial park - A community breakfast will be held from 8 am before a flag-raising ceremony and presentation of Devenish Achiever of the year at 9 am.

● Goomalibee - At the CFA shed - 7.30 am community breakfast followed by the flag-raising ceremony and achiever of the year presentation at 8.30 am.

● Goorambat - At the Mechanics Hall - 8 am community breakfast followed by flag-raising ceremony and achiever of the year presentation at 9 am.

● Lima/Swanpool - At the Lima School Community Centre - 9.30 am, flag-raising ceremony and achiever of the year presentation.

● Mollyullah - At the Mullyullah hall - 8 am community breakfast followed by the flag- raising ceremony and achiever of the year presentation at 9 am.

● Tatong - At the Tatong Recreation Reserve - 8 am community breakfast followed by the flag-raising ceremony at 9 am.

● Thoona - At the Thoona Memorial Hall - 8 am community breakfast followed by the flag-raising ceremony and achiever of the year presentation at 9 am.

● Warrenbayne - At the Warrenbayne Community Hall - 8.30 am community breakfast followed by the flag-raising ceremony and achiever of the year presentation.
