The event raised more than $8000, which will be shared between the Benalla Hospital Auxiliary and Wangaratta hospital.
Benalla Hospital Auxiliary secretary Sue Berry said a big thank you to garden owners Julie and Gary Campbell for all their the hard work and planning.
“The garden was ready, the weather was right, and lockdown was over,” Ms Berry said.
“(It was) perfect timing for the Birchwood Open Garden.
“What a pleasure it was to see people wandering, admiring and discussing the huge array of plants in this most gorgeous garden.
“How good was it to see visitors lingering over a cuppa in the shade of the trees.
“Happy chatter, lots of laughs, people enjoying themselves.
“In these COVID times, planning and running an event such as this requires much more attention to detail, to ensure all volunteers and visitors are in a safe environment.
“Congratulations to Julie and Gary, and to the visitors who came — thank you.”
Ms Berry also thanked the volunteers who helped run the event.
“It goes without saying that volunteers are an essential part of running events like open gardens, they all did a great job,” she said.
